ARIZONA JUVENILE COURT ATTORNEY
Juvenile Court Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction over persons under 18 when before the court, Juvenile Court loses jurisdiction when person turns 18, case is then transferred to adult court.
Juvenile who is 15+ at time of the offense must be charged directly in adult court if any of the serious felonies listed in 13-501(A) is alleged.
Prosecutor must direct file in adult court if juvenile is charged with a crime and has a historical prior felony conviction as defined in 13-604.
Prosecutor may file in adult court the case of a juvenile 14+ and charged with any of the felonies listed in 13-501(B).
Prosecutor may request transfer of any juvenile charged with a felony to adult court. Court must consider the factors set forth in 8-327(D), generally relating to the seriousness of the offense and prior criminal record of the juvenile.
