ARKANSAS JUVENILE COURT ATTORNEY
Juvenile Court Jurisdiction
Generally, jurisdiction over persons under 18 when before the court. Jurisdiction can be retained until defendant turns 21.
- Where juvenile is 15 or younger when any alleged criminal act occurred, shall be charged in juvenile court.
- Where juvenile is 16+ at time of a criminal act constituting an adult misdemeanor, shall be charged in juvenile court.
- Where juvenile is 16 or 17 when an alleged act constituting an adult felony occurs, may be charged in adult court or juvenile court.
- Where juvenile is 14 or 15 when he or she commits a serious violent felony listed in 9-27-318 (c)(2), may be filed in adult or juvenile court.
Prosecutor may move to transfer case of any juvenile where: juvenile is 14 or 15 when juvenile has committed any of the serious felonies listed in 9-27-318 (b)(1)-(3)
