George Newman's practice is limited to criminal defense, in state and federal courts, at the trial and appellate levels. He has been a criminal defense lawyer for 40 years, and loves his work. Mr. Newman has tried a number of homicide cases, including over twenty death penalty cases.
Mr. Newman has no one on death row, and has actually gotten several people off the "row" through appeals. He has also tried about 30 federal jury trials, and hundreds of Pennsylvania state jury trials, as well as thousands of hearings and non-jury trials. Mr. Newman serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), and is a member of the advisory board for the Champion, NACDL's award-winning monthly publication. George lectures frequently on criminal defense subjects, and has published numerous articles. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (with honors), and Temple University Law School. He lives with his lovely wife Linda in Philadelphia, and is an avid skier and tennis player.
