FLORIDA JUVENILE COURT ATTORNEY
Juvenile Court Jurisdiction
Generally, Jurisdiction over persons under 18 when alleged crime committed.
State must file in adult court where juvenile is 16 or 17 at time of offense and has previously been convicted of a serious felony specified in 985.227 (2)(a)-(d) and juvenile is currently charged with a violent crime against a person; or,
Prosecutor may move to transfer case of any juvenile where:
Any Juvenile who is 14+ at time of offense; discretionary, court may grant or deny transfer. Juvenile who is 14+ at time of offense and has been charged with a felony listed in 985.226 (2)(b) (1) (attached) or 14+ at time of offense and has been convicted of 3 prior felony offenses and one or more involved use or possession of firearm or violence against a person; mandatory, where found true, court must transfer.
