MARYLAND JUVENILE COURT ATTORNEY
Juvenile Court Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction over persons under 18 when before the court. ( 3-8A-01)
No Juvenile Court jurisdiction over juvenile 14+ alleged to have committed an act punishable by death or life imprisonment. 3-8A-03(d)(1) (attached); or a juvenile alleged to have committed a serious felony listed in 3-8A-03(d)(4); or, a juvenile previously convicted as an adult of a felony and presently accused of a felony
Court may, after a hearing, transfer any juvenile 15+ to adult court where juvenile is accused of a crime punishable by death or life imprisonment. ( 3-8A-0)
rosecutor may request transfer of any Juvenile not accused of a specified juvenile offense listed in 712A.2(a)(1) (attached), court must hold a hearing and consider the factors set forth in 712A.2d (2)(a)-(f).
