Juvenile Court Jurisdiction

Jurisdiction over persons under 17 when before the court; Juvenile Court can retain jurisdiction until defendant turns 19. ( 712A.2(a))

Prosecutor may direct file in adult court the case of any juvenile 14+ who is accused of a specified juvenile offense listed in 712A.2(a)(1).

Prosecutor may, with leave of the court, transfer any juvenile to adult court where juvenile is accused of a specified juvenile offense listed in 712A.2(a)(1)

Prosecutor may request transfer of any Juvenile not accused of a specified juvenile offense listed in 712A.2(a)(1) (attached), court must hold a hearing and consider the factors set forth in 712A.2d (2)(a)-(f).
