WYOMING JUVENILE COURT ATTORNEY
Juvenile Court Jurisdiction
Juvenile Court has jurisdiction over persons less than 18 years old when proceedings are initiated. ( 14-6-201; 14-6-203). No juvenile under 13 may be charged in or transferred to adult court. ( 14-6-203(d)).
Prosecutor may direct file in adult court any juvenile 17+ and accused of a felony (14-6-203(f)(iii)); any juvenile 14+ and accused of a violent felony listed at 6-1-104(a)(xii) (14-6-203(f)(iv)); and, any juvenile 14+ charged with a felony with two prior felony convictions (14-6-203(f)(v)).
Prosecutor or court may request a transfer hearing for any juvenile 13+, court must consider factors listed at 14-6-237(b)(i)-(vii) and must transfer the case if a proper reason exists therefore. ( 14-6-237(a)-(b)).
