The following month he pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of “possession of a controlled substance” and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. The following month, his defense attorney learned that the police crime laboratory performed test on the pills and concluded that no illegal drugs were detected and that the District Attorney’s Office Conviction Integrity Unity was notified. In June of 2016, his defense attorney filed a state petition and had the conviction vacated.
